How do I test a remote IR sensor?

Point the end of the remote control with the IR emitter at the camera or camcorder lens. Look at the viewfinder or LCD screen….If this is the case:

  1. Remove the batteries.
  2. Press and release each button a couple of times to see if you can free the stuck button.
  3. Replace the batteries and test the remote again.

What can interfere with IR remote controls?

Ambient light, especially sunlight, can overload or desensitize the sensor on the electronic device and cause it to miss signals sent from the remote control. Devices that use infrared to communicate with the remote control should be shielded from bright, direct light.

Can Wifi interfere with IR?

Light rays (even infrared) and WIFI are at very different wavelengths. They won’t interfere. The heater could interfere if you have powerline networking or maybe DSL depending on how data lines and power lines are run.
