By Matthew Sanders

How does the Denon AVR 1909 remote work?

The remote is intuitive and uncluttered: all the major buttons glow in the dark, while buttons used less frequently are banished behind a panel. Fire up the Denon and skip to the warehouse scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. As the Russians chase after Indy, the AVR-1909 keeps the explosive action under control.

Which is best Denon AVR 1909 or Onkyo tx-sr606?

Back in our September issue, Denon ‘s AVR-1909 wrestled with the Onkyo TX-SR606 in a Group Test, and eventually emerged the winner. But, in this month’s Supertest, we’ve seen fit to strip the Denon of a star. Before you launch a volley of rotten tomatoes in our direction, please let us explain.

What kind of auto calibration does Denon use?

To aid set-up, the Denon uses an Audyssey auto-calibration system that caters for six listening positions. Sitting through the set-up and moving the mic around can be laborious, but it pays in the long run, especially if the whole family like to get involved.

Is the Denon avr-1909 a universal remote?

If you’re a home theater veteran who craves the Denon sound, you’ll get what you pay for on the AVR-1909, but neophytes should steer clear and enthusiasts should at least plan to buy a third-party universal remote. The design of the AVR-1909 follows the new curved look first seen on last year’s Denon AV receivers.

How tall is the Denon avr-1909 LCD display?

We’ve seen some tacky “wavy” designs from electronics before, but the AVR-1909 manages to add in some subtle curves that deliver on a stylish design that stands out from the average component. In the center of the receiver is the LCD display, which was readable from a seating distance of about 7 feet.

Where are the buttons on the Denon remote?

The more AV receiver-centric buttons are actually located on the back of the remote, under a flip-down panel. We’d highly recommend ditching the included clicker for a quality universal remote. There’s also a second, smaller remote included, which is less confusing but is too limited to be your main clicker.
