The Sony is 3 years old now, as it hasn’t been superseded it’s maintained its price. It’s an excellent sounding AVR, kicking far above it’s price IMO (I have one), however it does have a couple of issues that can’t be ignored.

The worst one is it cannot do DTS-X or Neural-X using overhead mounted speakers. This is an issue Sony has continually ignored, much to the annoyance of owners. It does work with front height mounted speakers or “reflective” type speakers where you bounce the “Atmos” audio off the ceiling.
