What happens if you plug in a speaker port?

By Matthew Sanders

What happens if you plug in a speaker port?

Plug the port and you possibly just ruined the potential of that driver. Re: Plugging speaker ports…any harm? Acoustic suspension, ported or even transmission line are techniques to optimize loudspeaker resonance. Plug the port and you possibly just ruined the potential of that driver. But you won’t do any harm blocking the ports.

What happens if you wire two speakers in a stereo?

If you wire 2 speakers in a stereo with different polarities (for example, one has positive and negative wired as labeled, and the 2nd speaker has the opposite) an interesting thing occurs: they’re out of phase and some sound cancels out. The result is a strange and poor sounding stereo.

What happens when you have 2 speakers instead of one?

There’s one important thing to understand, however: having 2 or 3 speakers instead of one does not double or triple the sound. It increases a few decibels (dB) for each speaker added. Doubling the power does not double the volume either.

Why do some speakers sound better than others?

In most cases, you’ll notice a lack of bass sound and it won’t sound pleasing to the ear as expected. When speakers are wired the opposite of each other sound waves cancel out. When wired the same, sound waves add together for more sound. Speakers that are wired differently sound poor because much of the sound is canceled out.

How to make a Zone 2 subwoofer work?

If you have low level zone 2 rca outputs, simply use an rca splitter and plug an rca into your outdoor subwoofer, again you will need a sub with an intergrated amplifier and cross over, which most have… PS outdoor subs are awesome my brother has 2 buried subs, by his pool, they sound awesome…

How to setup Denon Zone 1 and 2 speakers?

1 and 2 and 3: For your Zone 1 on the 1709, plug your 4 speakers in to the FL, FR, RL and RL. For zone 2 plug your 2 outside speakers into SBL and SBR. You will have to configure the amp for AMP assign : Zone 2. This will allow the outside speakers to have a different input to the main zone (more on this later).

Do you need a Zone 2 subwoofer for AVR?

If it is built in and your avr doesnt have low level outputs for zone 2, than you need a sub woofer with an internal crossover that accept high level inputs…

What’s the difference between Zone 2 and 3?

Zone 2 (1709 main zone): which can select any local input (both digital and analog) and the zone 2 output of 2309. Also output a separate input (analog only) to Zone 3. Zone 3 (1709 Zone 2): Will output either the analog output selected on the 2309 or a local anlaog output on the 1709. this was very helpful all makes sense.
