Why does my speaker pop?

By Emily Sparks

Why does my speaker pop?

Where is the Crackling Coming From In Your Speaker? Speaker crackling is almost always caused by a connection problem. Someplace between your amplifier and your speaker driver, there’s a bad wire which is causing the driver to move abruptly, causing interference.

Why do my speakers pop when I turn my computer on?

Similar to when you turn a light or a appliance turns on that is on the same circuit as your speaker power you might get a pop due to the surge coming across the lines, just in your case it is coming from your computer through your audio cables.

Why do my studio monitors pop when I turn them on?

If you are using studio monitors, popping can be caused by driver or software issues and your audio interface (sound card). This can be either because you’ve set your buffer too low or software incompatibility.

Why is my subwoofer making popping sound?

Subwoofers make popping noises because of squared waveforms, incorrect cone signals, or overpowered setups. The distorted sounds indicate a mismatch between the input and output based on the speaker’s specs. If you run more than one sub, there must be enough power to reach all of them to avoid popping sounds.

Why do my speakers have static sound?

Another source of occasional static is harmonics that each piece of equipment sets up when operating. Properly dressing your cables away from electrical, mechanical interference may also help. Check each speaker cable for broken, cracked or damaged insulation.

Can a Klipsch 4.1 speaker system be unplugged?

So, while I was at work, my wife needed a power outlet, so she unplugged my Klipsch 4.1 speakers from the surge protector (not the V2.400 version, but the newer revision that Klipsch made right after that. all this is applicable to both though, as all klipsch really changed was the crossover points for the satellites).

What was the Brown resistor on my Klipsch speakers?

R26 is the brown resistor. R26 basically exploded. The shell of the resistor was cracked, fragmented, and the current path was completely blown open. Well, using my trusty soldering iron, solder, some desoldering braid, and some new resistors from Digikey, I replaced R26. My speakers work again!!!

How big is a plate AMP on a Klipsch?

Photo 4: Entire plate amp assembly. Photo 5: The new R26 I put in place (47k ohm). Notice its large, manly size. That’s because it has a 3W power handling capacity. The old one only had a 1W capacity. Arrows indicate where I had to bend the resistor leads to fit it in the PCB holes Photo 6: Rear side of the PCB (the side you solder on).
