Why does surround sound not work on my DVD player?
My surround sound work on my DVD player, but not the TV. The input icon show surround sound, however when switching channels the icon show tv sound. The surround use to work, now I don’t know what has happened.

Your tv doesn’t have built in surround, just stereo (2 channel – left and right) sound. Just DVD player with six speakers. Is there another model number somewhere that you see?

Many thanks for the reply, its a HT-CTI80, I did play around a bit and found if you switch to tv speakers then the sound bar works from the DVD player in Dolby but you get a slight echo. I also purchased a new HDMI cable just in case it was faulty but this made no difference.

1) TV source into the screw-on ANT IN connection on the back of the TV. 2) HDMI cable from Samsung Surround sound unit to HDMI input on TV. Again – you cannot connect Red/White cables to the back of the TV to get any audio OUT. Hope this works.

If the TV speaker does not work no matter what you try, do an experiment and connect an external speaker to the TV to see if sound will be heard. If not you may have a circuit board issue or possibly the speakers in the TV have a wiring issue. Try everything first before taking the TV apart to check the speakers.
