Why is my speaker making a popping noise?

Speaker popping and crackling is caused by interrupted electrical current (audio signals) or, in other words, a loose or dirty connection. To fix crackling and popping, troubleshoot the connective wires to find the problem area and secure the connection and/or replace the cable.

How do you know if your speakers are blown?

In most cases, you’ll find that one or more of your speakers has loose or damaged voice coils. Telltale popping or rattling instead of music. If you don’t hear your music at all, and instead hear unpleasant sounds like popping or rattling, that’s a major red flag. Your speakers are almost certainly blown.
